ChatGPT has become the talk of the town. Gradually it is becoming an essential part of our lives. But ChatGPT isn’t smart enough to find its bugs yet. That’s why its creator turns to humans for help.

OpenAI, ChatGPT’s creator, announced a bug bounty program on Tuesday, encouraging people to find and report vulnerabilities and bugs in its artificial intelligence systems, such as ChatGPT and GPT-4.

The bug bounty program encourages humans to help identify bugs or issues within the AI language model. By offering rewards for successful bug reports, the creator hopes to incentivize people to provide feedback and improve the overall functionality of the model. This approach can improve the accuracy and reliability of ChatGPT, making it a more effective tool for users.

The Reward Range

OpenAI stated that its AI Systems aim to benefit everyone, further adding-

“To that end, we invest heavily in research and engineering to ensure our AI systems are safe and secure. However, as with any complex technology, we understand that vulnerabilities and flaws can emerge.”

OpenAI said that the rewards for reports will range from $200 for low severity findings to as much as $20,000 for “extraordinary discoveries.”

OpenAI is open to suggestions. The company addressed the security researchers stating “the critical importance of security and view it as a collaborative effort. By sharing your findings, you will play a crucial role in making our technology safer for everyone.”

With more and more people using ChatGPT and other OpenAI products, the company wants to quickly identify potential issues to ensure that the systems are running smoothly and that vulnerabilities are not used for malicious purposes.
